Crisis & Safety Policy

How the Safety Network, crisis escalation, and emergency support work — and what AncestLore cannot do.

AncestLore is an emotionally sensitive product. We’ve built a Crisis Safety Network & Protective Escalation System into the Memory Conversation experience.

Safety Network

You can nominate trusted contacts and choose whether AncestLore may contact them on your behalf if a serious safety concern is detected in a Memory Conversation. You can also choose whether to share your approximate location with those contacts when an alert is sent. Consent is opt-in.

Crisis escalation

If acute risk language is detected, AncestLore steps out of normal Memory Conversation behaviour, surfaces emergency resources for your region, encourages you to contact a real person, and — if you have opted in — alerts your nominated safety contacts. The AI will never romanticise harm or claim a deceased person is "waiting" for you.

Platform limitations

AncestLore is not an emergency service. It cannot replace a professional, a hotline, or the people in your life. If you are in danger, please contact local emergency services immediately.

This document is provided in good faith to help users understand how AncestLore works. It is plain-English summary text and does not substitute professional legal advice. The most current version published on AncestLore.com always applies.
