Deceased Loved One Policy

How AncestLore should be used to honour, remember, and preserve the legacy of someone who has passed.

AncestLore exists to honour and preserve the memory of people who have passed. This policy explains how we expect the Service to be used in that context.

Intended uses

  • Preserving voices, photos, stories, and personality for family.
  • Creating legacy books, films, and Memory Conversations to share with relatives.
  • Holding space for grief, remembrance, and reflection.
  • Building family-history archives that future generations can explore.

Respectful use

Treat profiles of deceased loved ones with the dignity you would want for yourself. Do not use them to settle scores, fabricate statements, produce shock content, or mislead other family members.

Takedown for deceased profiles

Surviving family members or estates can request removal of materials relating to a deceased person through the Copyright & Takedown Policy. We take these requests seriously and act quickly.

This document is provided in good faith to help users understand how AncestLore works. It is plain-English summary text and does not substitute professional legal advice. The most current version published on AncestLore.com always applies.
